Meaning of narative text

•       Narrative text is a piece of textwhich tells a story and entertains the reader or listener.

Meaning

•       a spoken or written account of connected events; a story.

•       the narrated part of a literary work, as distinct from dialogue.

•       the practice or art of narration. 

Language feature of narative text

•       Past tense (killed, drunk,etc)

•       Adverb of time (Once upun a time, one day, etc)

•       Time conjunction (when, then, suddenly, etc)

•       Specific character. The character of the story is specific, not general. (Cinderella, Snow White, Alibaba, etc)

•       Action verbs. A verb that shows an action. (killed, dug, walked, etc)

•       Direct speech. It is to make the story lively. (Snow White said,”My name is Snow White). The direct speech uses present tense.

Text organization of narative text

•       Orientation : It is about the opening paragraph where the characters of the story are introduced. (who, when, what and where)

•       Complication : Where the problems in the story developed. , in which a crisis or a problem arises, which usually involves the main characters

•       Resolution : Where the problems in the story is solved. (for better or for worse)

Example of narative text

Snow white

                In earlier times there lived a , who named Snow White . He lived with his aunt and uncle because his parents died . One day she heard her uncle and aunt talking about leaving Snow White in the castle because they wanted to go to America and they did not have enough money to take Snow White with them . princess Snow White did not want her uncle and aunt to do this . So he decided to escape .

The next day he ran away from home when her aunt and uncle were having breakfast , he fled into the wood . In the wood she felt very tired and hungry . Then she saw this cottage . She knocked but no one answered her so she went inside and felt asleep Meanwhile seven dwarfs came home from his work . They get into . There, they found Snow White woke up from his sleep . He saw the dwarfs . The dwarf said : " What is your name ? ' Snow White said , " My name is Snow White . " One dwarf said , " If you want , you can stay here with us . ' Snow White tells all about her story . Then daughter snow and the seven dwarves are now living happily ever after .

Meaning of fiction

•       Fiction is the form of any work that deals, in part or in whole, with information or events that are not real, but rather imaginary and theoretical, invented by the author.

•       the class of literature comprising works of imaginative narration, especially in prose form.

•       the act of feigning, inventing, or imagining.

•       an imaginary thing or event, postulated for the purposes of argument or explanation.

Kind of fiction

•          Realistic fiction, although untrue, could actually happen. Some events, people, and places may even be real. It may be possible that, in the future, imagined events could physically happen.

•          Non-realistic fiction is that in which the story's events could not happen in real life, which involve an alternate form of history of mankind other than that recorded, or need impossible technology

•          Semi-fiction is fiction implementing a great deal of non-fiction. Often, even when the author claims the story is true, there may be significant additions and subtractions from the true story to make it more suitable for storytelling.

Example of fiction

                THE LION AND RABBIT

                big lion and a little rabbit lived in a jungle. The lion was the king of the jungle. He was very proud of it. He mocked the rabbit as a weak animal and useless. Feeling insulted, the rabbit found a trick to revenge. He wouldn't use a strenght to fight againts the lion, but he had a smart brain to beat the lion. "My lord, I have something to tell you?" said the rabbit one day. "Yes, what?" the lion asked. "You think you are the strongest here. Nobody will beat you. But there is an animal saying he is the strongest and will defeat you," the rabbit said. "Who is he? Tell me and I'll find him," said the lion angrily. Then they went out to find the animal told by the rabbit. The rabbit led the lion to a deep well in the jungle they lived. "Look inside, my lord. Your enemy was staying there," The rabbit pointed to the the water in the well. The lion took a look into the well. He saw his own shadow. But, he thought it was his enemy. Then he jumped and drowned.
